Getting started
Which devices does Vitaclaris work on?
Any iPhone or iPad with iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. Vitaclaris is in English and Spanish: pick the language at the top of Vitaclaris's Settings.
How do I connect the Health app from Apple?
The first time Vitaclaris needs what's in the Health app, one screen says why, and Continue opens iOS's own question, where you choose what to share, or nothing. To change what it can read later, go to your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Vitaclaris.
Some of my data is missing
The Health app asks permission for each type of data, so check the list above. Vitaclaris shows what's in the Health app from Apple: data from another app or device, like a ring or a scale, has to reach the Health app first, so check that app's Health settings too.
How do I add a medical document?
In Health → Documents, tap Camera, Photos or Files. You can also send a file to Vitaclaris from Mail, Files, WhatsApp or any app with a share button. With Vitaclaris Plus, Claude reads it into results, studies and action items. Records from hospitals, clinics and labs in the US, the UK and Canada can also arrive by themselves: see "Health Records" below.
Does Vitaclaris work with VoiceOver and larger text?
Yes. Vitaclaris follows your iPhone's accessibility settings (Settings → Accessibility): words grow up to the largest sizes and rows stack so nothing is cut off; with VoiceOver and Voice Control, every button has a name, a card reads as one and titles are headings; Reduce Motion stops what slides or pulses; and Increase Contrast makes text, lines and colors stronger, in light and in Dark Mode. For big buttons and just what matters, try Simple view.
Why are times shown in 12 or 24 hours?
Vitaclaris follows your iPhone's time format (Settings → General → Date & Time), in the app, its widgets and on your Apple Watch.
Medications and reminders
How do I add a medication I take more than once a day?
Tap + at the top and choose Add a medication or supplement, or tap Edit medication on one you have. Choose that you take it every day, then say when under Doses:
- Add a dose for each time you take it: at a set time, at any time, or in a part of the day (Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Evening or Bedtime), and before, with or after a meal, or on an empty stomach, when it matters.
- Or choose Every few hours, such as every 8 hours, and the time of the first dose.
The times for the parts of the day are yours to set, under Times of day in Meds settings (the slider at the top left of Meds).
How do I mark each dose?
Tap each of today's doses on the medication's card as you take it, and tap it again to undo. A day when you took only some of them shows in light green in the calendar, and Last 7 days counts each dose.
Can I log a dose from the reminder?
Yes. Turn on Medication reminders in Meds settings or in Settings → Notifications. Each dose reminds you at its own time, and doses due together come in one reminder. Touch and hold it and tap Taken (or All taken) to log it without opening Vitaclaris; the iPhone has to be unlocked.
What happens when I miss a dose?
Half an hour after a dose's reminder, if it isn't logged, Vitaclaris asks: Took it, Skip or Remind me in 15 min. When a dose keeps slipping, it suggests another reminder time, and it gives you a heads-up before a medication runs out.
Can Vitaclaris tell me when to take a medication?
In a medication's Refills & reminders, Show what the label says quotes its FDA label on food, an empty stomach, the time of day and spacing it from other medicines, word for word, with the label linked. It never gives a dose, and it isn't advice for you: your doctor or pharmacist knows what applies to you. It needs your free Vitaclaris account and a connection, and only the medication's name or code is sent.
Reminders don't show up
Check your device's Settings → Notifications → Vitaclaris, and Vitaclaris's Settings → Notifications. A Focus can also hold notifications back.
Health Records
What does Health Records do?
Vitaclaris can bring in the records your hospitals, clinics and labs send to the Apple Health app: lab results, medications, conditions, allergies, immunizations, procedures, vital signs and visit notes. New ones arrive by themselves, with nothing to scan:
- Lab results join your charts and Key results, with the lab's own flags and reference ranges.
- Something new becomes a question for your doctor in Up next and, when the record names your doctor, on that doctor's page in Visits, so it's part of your next visit's agenda.
- Visit notes join your documents. With Vitaclaris Plus, Claude reads one when you say so, like any document.
- Conditions and allergies join History, and the medical summary you can share.
- On a record's page, Add to Meds or Add to Your health puts it in your own lists, for you to edit. The record itself stays as your provider sent it.
Where does Health Records work?
Only where Apple offers Health Records in the Health app: with providers in the US, the UK and Canada. Apple's directory lists more than 18,600 US locations: hospitals, clinics, practices and labs. To check yours, search Apple's list of institutions that support Health Records, or look for it when you add an account in the Health app.
Providers in other countries don't appear there, so Vitaclaris can't bring their records in. You can still add their reports as documents.
How do I connect my records?
In the Health app, tap your picture (top right), then Health Records → Get Started (or Add Account). Find your hospital, clinic or lab and sign in with your patient-portal login; repeat for each one. Then, in Vitaclaris, open Settings → Apple Health → Health Records and tap Continue.
iOS asks which kinds of records Vitaclaris may read, and whether new ones are shared automatically or only after asking you each time.
What happens when something new arrives?
The first time you connect, Vitaclaris brings in what the Health app already has, without notifications; only results from the last 30 days that are outside the lab's range go to Up next. After that, it lets you know when something new arrives:
- a new or corrected result outside the lab's range, by the lab's own flag or the range it prints;
- a new condition in your records;
- a new medication, or a change to one;
- a new visit note.
Each one becomes a question for your doctor in Up next, such as "Ask your doctor about your glucose". The notification says only that something arrived, never what: lock screens show notifications. Vitaclaris checks when you open it, and in the background when iOS allows it. To stop the notification, turn off Tell me when something new arrives in Settings → Apple Health → Health Records; the questions still come.
What if a record is no longer in the Health app?
Some providers share only recent records, and removing a provider's account in the Health app takes its records out of Health. Vitaclaris keeps its copy, marked Only in Vitaclaris, in your lists, charts and history, until you delete it: open the record and tap Delete from Vitaclaris. To leave a whole provider out, open it under Providers and tap Delete from Vitaclaris; nothing more comes in from it until you tap Bring back.
Where are my health records kept?
On your iPhone, in Vitaclaris's private storage. Never in iCloud, and never used for ads. Vitaclaris reads only the categories you allow, and your records leave your iPhone only when you choose: in Vitaclaris's end-to-end encrypted sync between your devices, if you turn it on; in a family profile you share or a doctor link you make, both sealed on your iPhone so we can't read them; or in an AI request you agree to, such as a visit note you ask Claude to read, which goes through the Vitaclaris server to Anthropic like any document. What you share or export yourself, like your medical summary or a backup, goes only where you send or save it.
Does Vitaclaris tell me what my results mean?
It shows each result as your lab reported it: the value, the lab's own flag (such as Flagged high by the lab) and its reference range, charted with your earlier values. What a result means for you is for your doctor to say, so something new becomes a question to bring them. With Vitaclaris Plus you can ask Claude about your results too; its answers can be wrong and aren't medical advice.
Does it cost anything?
Bringing in your records, charting them and the questions for your doctor are free, like everything in Vitaclaris except the AI features that use Claude. Having Claude read a visit note counts like reading any document, with Vitaclaris Plus.
Your care circle and your doctors
How do updates for my care circle work?
Add the people in Health → Send summary (or Settings → Care circle) → Add a person: from Contacts, your care team or by hand. Choose Mail or WhatsApp, their language, the style (Plain language for family, Clinical summary for doctors), and whether they hear about results, visits or both. When Claude reads a new result or you finish a visit, Up next shows what you can tell them about, and Claude writes one update for each person. In Ready to send, read each one, change what you like with Edit, and tap Send from this iPhone. Nothing goes out until you send it. Writing updates needs Vitaclaris Plus.
How do summaries work?
Each person can also get a summary of everything new since the last one: what's new and why it matters, the questions for the doctors, every open action item and what was done. In their entry in Settings → Notifications, under Summary, set Remind me to Daily or Weekly and pick the time. Vitaclaris reminds you then; tap the reminder and Claude writes it, ready to send from Mail or WhatsApp in one tap. You can also write one any time: Ready to send → Write a summary…. If nothing is new, Claude isn't asked, and the summary carries your open action items.
Does Vitaclaris send summaries by itself?
No. iOS doesn't let an app send an email or a WhatsApp message on its own, so you tap Send in Mail or WhatsApp. Nothing goes out until you do.
What does Claude see when it writes an update or a summary?
What it's about (the results read, visits, action items, appointments and medication changes), your current medications and, for each person, their relationship, language and style and your notes about them. Never their names, emails or phone numbers: the app adds the names on your iPhone. It goes through the Vitaclaris server, which keeps none of it, and each request counts as 1 question.
Longevity and wellbeing
What is the Longevity tab?
Longevity grades eight areas of your health against public guidelines: Heart, Metabolic, Movement, Sleep, Mind, Nutrition, Hearing and Prevention. It also estimates your Vitaclaris Age, and has check-ins and short tests for what the Health app can't measure.
The numbers come from the Health app from Apple (your watch, ring and iPhone), the lab results in your records, what you log in Vitaclaris and the check-ins on the tab. Tap an area to see each measure: your value, where it came from and when, its grade and its target. Tap a measure for what it means and the studies and guidelines behind it.
What is Vitaclaris Age, and how is it worked out?
Vitaclaris Age compares your measures with what's typical for people your age and sex, and turns the difference into years, using what large published studies found. The card says how many years younger or older than your age that is. Tap it to see which measures are making you younger, which are making you older, and which aren't counted yet.
- A measure without a value counts as average.
- Mind and Hearing are graded, but they aren't counted in Vitaclaris Age: in the studies, cause and effect can't be told apart well enough.
- What to do next, under the areas, lists what's due from your plan, then every change from your own measures linked with years of Vitaclaris Age, the most first (what to aim for and where you are now), then the measures worth adding.
Vitaclaris Age is an estimate from published studies, not a medical test. The studies observed people, so these are links, not promises. Talk them over with your doctor before changing anything. How it works, at the bottom of the tab, has all the details.
Why doesn't my Vitaclaris Age show yet?
It needs your year of birth, and at least 4 measures, one of them about fitness. Until then, the card says what's missing. To fill in more:
- Wear your watch or ring for a week, day and night, for steps, exercise, resting heart rate, sleep and cardio fitness.
- Add a lab report in Health → Documents.
- Take the check-ins and tests on the tab.
- Fill in About you (in the tab's settings, or in Settings): your year of birth, sex and height.
Vitaclaris Age is saved once a week, so it moves week by week, not from day to day.
What do Good, Fair and Needs attention mean?
Each measure is compared with a public guideline, a reference population or a published study. Good means it meets the target. Fair and Needs attention mean it doesn't yet, for example a blood pressure above the healthy range; Needs attention is further from the target.
An area takes the grade of its weakest key measure, and its card says which one that is. Measures under For information are worth knowing but don't set the grade, and a value too old to count still shows, but isn't graded. A grade compares a number with a target: if something needs attention, it's worth talking over with your doctor.
Which check-ins and tests are there?
They're under Check-ins and tests, on the Longevity tab:
- Mood (PHQ-9) and Anxiety (GAD-7): how the last 2 weeks went, in 9 and 7 questions.
- Mediterranean diet (MEDAS): 14 questions about what you usually eat and drink.
- Smoking and alcohol: 2 questions.
- Screenings and vaccines: when you last had each one due for your age and sex. It ends with what's due now.
- One-leg balance: stand on one leg for 10 seconds, in up to 3 tries.
- 30-second chair stand: how many times you can stand up from a chair in 30 seconds.
For the tests, stand by a wall or a counter, and use a sturdy chair without wheels. Mood, anxiety, smoking and alcohol count for 6 months, the others for a year; then the row says it's time to do it again. If you answer that you've had thoughts of hurting yourself, Vitaclaris shows lines you can call right away.
The Wellbeing tab also has a short wellbeing check every two weeks, with your trend over time. Like your other wellbeing entries, its answers are kept on your device and, with sync on, in your encrypted copy.
Is my Longevity data sent anywhere?
Not unless you ask. Your grades and Vitaclaris Age are worked out on your iPhone or iPad, and your answers to the check-ins stay there. If you let Vitaclaris write to the Health app, your mood and anxiety check-ins are saved there too, like the Health app's own, and one you take in the Health app counts in Vitaclaris.
With Vitaclaris Plus, Ask about my results, at the bottom of the tab, sends a summary of your Longevity results to Claude, like any question in Ask, through the Vitaclaris server, which keeps none of it. Your mood and anxiety check-ins stay out of it, and so does Vitaclaris Age while it's hidden.
Can I hide Vitaclaris Age?
Yes. Tap the slider at the top left of the Longevity tab and turn off Show Vitaclaris Age. The number and the years, in What to do next and on each measure, are hidden; the areas, their grades and the list still show. Show it brings it back.
Where can I find support if I'm struggling?
If you're going through a hard time, talk to your doctor or someone you trust; the bottom of the Wellbeing tab has numbers you can call.
Vitaclaris Plus and the AI features
What does Vitaclaris cost?
Everything in Vitaclaris is free except the AI features that use Claude. Vitaclaris Plus adds them (Ask, reading your documents and the lab reports you download, meal photos and labels, visit preparation, a recorded visit's summary, combining a visit's questions, Explain on blood age, the heart risk estimate and What changed, Explain my plan, updates for your care circle, and plans): $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with about 100 questions or 20 documents a month, in any mix, and a free week to try it. Need more? Packs of 50, 120 or 350 extra questions never expire. Local prices vary by country. See Pricing.
How do I start?
In Vitaclaris, open Settings → Account and plan, sign in with Apple, and choose a plan. The first time, the AI asks your permission to read your information.
How do questions count?
A question in Ask, a meal photo or a label counts as 1, and so does writing updates or a summary for your care circle; a weekly review as 2; reading a document or preparing a visit as 5 (longer documents a little more); a nutrition or workout plan as 10. The app tells you before the bigger ones, and if an answer fails, nothing is counted. The plan's questions start again each month; extra questions never expire.
How do I cancel, or change plans?
In your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Vitaclaris. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are requested from Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I bought Plus on another device
Sign in with the same Apple Account, then tap Restore purchases in Settings → Account and plan.
I have a code for Vitaclaris Plus
In Vitaclaris, open Settings → Account and plan → Redeem a code, and enter it in Apple's sheet.
Is Vitaclaris medical advice?
No. Vitaclaris isn't a medical device. AI answers and document readings can be incomplete or wrong, so talk them over with your doctor. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Simple view
What is Simple view?
Big buttons and one screen with what matters each day: your medicines, your next appointment, your readings and your health card, and your family when they share your profile. It's for an older parent, or anyone who wants less. Nothing is removed: everything else in Vitaclaris is still there, one tap away in Settings.
How do I turn it on?
In the full app, Settings → Turn on Simple view. The first time you open Vitaclaris, you can also answer Keep it simple in the welcome questions. Or someone in your family sets up your phone from theirs.
How do the reminders work?
A reminder comes at each medicine's time, with Taken and Later. Later reminds you again in 15 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours. If you don't answer, it comes once more. To hear them, turn on Settings → Reminders → Say them out loud: your phone says them in its own voice.
What does I'm OK today do?
Once a day, tap I'm OK today and your family sees it. If you haven't by the time chosen, your phone reminds you gently. It's off until it's turned on. This isn't an emergency service, and nobody is told when there's no check-in. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
How does my family set up my phone?
From their phone, in your shared profile, they tap Set up Mary's phone (with your name) and get a code. On your iPhone, install Vitaclaris and open it, choose Someone in my family is setting this up and sign in with your own Apple Account, then scan their code or paste the link they sent. Your iPhone then opens in Simple view, with your medicines and reminders, and they keep managing them from their phone.
What if I forget the passcode?
Someone in your family can reset it from their phone. If no one shares your profile, the iPhone's own passcode opens it. The passcode's digits never leave the phone.
Does it work with Assistive Access?
Yes. With iPhone's Assistive Access on, Vitaclaris opens its simple screens straight away, on the same data.
How do I get the full app back?
Settings → Show the full app, with the passcode if one is set. Everything is there as it was, and Back to Simple view brings Simple view back.
Today, programs, visits and family
What are the welcome questions and Today?
The first time you open Vitaclaris, a few questions ask what you need: records and results, doctor visits, medications, caring for someone, food, sleep, blood pressure, blood sugar, women's health, bone health and more. Your answers pick the tabs you see, and every tab stays in Settings → Tabs. Today puts what's next in one place: your plan, the doses to take, follow-ups, your water and your fast. If you used Vitaclaris before, your tabs stay as they were after the update, and Today offers Choose what you see once.
What is Labs to ask for?
Health → Results starts with Labs to ask for: the tests published guidelines suggest asking your doctor about, from your age, sex, history, medications and the dates of your last results, each with its reasons and sources. Add one to a visit's agenda, mark it done or not for you, or make a one-page request sheet for your doctor. What changed shows your results since your last visit, your last blood draw or last week, against the lab's own ranges, with the medications you started, changed or stopped.
Where can I get the tests done?
At the end of Labs to ask for, Where to get tested says who can order the tests and who pays: your doctor first, what insurance or your health plan covers, and where you can go to a lab directly where the law allows it, each with its source. Vitaclaris earns nothing from any lab and recommends none.
How do I bring in a lab report I downloaded?
Most labs let you download your report as a PDF from their website or app. Health → Documents → Add a document → Bring your labs shows where to find it. Add the PDF in Documents: with Vitaclaris Plus, Claude reads it like any document (5 questions for up to 10 pages), and its results join your charts, Labs to ask for and What changed. A result that's already there isn't added twice, and Vitaclaris never signs in to your lab's account.
How do the health programs work?
Each program turns itself on when it applies to you: what you chose in the welcome questions, its readings in the Health app from Apple, or your age. You can also turn one on or off in Settings → Health programs. Blood pressure reads a cuff's readings from the Health app, or the ones you add, and runs a measuring week: 2 readings a minute apart, morning and evening, for 7 days, with the averages next to the 2025 US guideline's target of under 130/80, or your doctor's, and a log (PDF) for your doctor. Glucose reads a sensor's readings, or the blood sugars you add: time in range, your day hour by hour, and the rise after each meal. Women's health and bone health follow your cycle and symptoms, your bone scans, and the screenings for your age. They're free, and your doctor tells you what your numbers mean for you.
How do I add a reading?
Tap Add a reading on the Health tab, or on the blood pressure and glucose programs and their Today cards, and type a blood pressure, a weight or a blood sugar, with its date and time. Your own readings are saved in Vitaclaris and, if you allow it, in Apple Health: the first time, one screen says why, and Continue opens iOS's question. A family profile's readings stay in Vitaclaris. A reading counts once, even when Apple Health has it too.
Can Vitaclaris count food from other apps?
Yes. When a food app saves your meals to the Health app from Apple, they count in Vitaclaris's day totals and week scores, and in the glucose program's rises after meals, each with its app's name. Turn on that app's connection to the Health app, and let Vitaclaris read Nutrition. To change a meal, edit it in its app. Vitaclaris's own meals never count twice; if you log the same meals in two places, turn that app off in Nutrition's settings, under Food from other apps.
How do family profiles work?
Add someone you care for from Profiles, at the top of any tab. Their records, medications, visits and documents live in their own profile, in your app, and you confirm that you care for them or that they agreed. You can share a profile with family, end-to-end encrypted, and turn on an alert when a dose is missed. The Health app from Apple is read only for you, never for another profile.
Who can open a doctor link?
Anyone with the whole link, until it expires (after 1, 7 or 30 days) or you turn it off. Your summary is encrypted on your iPhone and the key travels only in the link, so the Vitaclaris server keeps a copy it can't read. The link keeps only the times it was opened.
The same appointment shows up twice
It can come in more than once: added by you, read from the clinic's instructions, from your records. Tap one in Up next or in the Timeline, tap Merge with…, tick the others and tap Next; where they differ, choose what to keep, then tap Merge. Every note comes along, and each question and prep line once. Undo the merge, in the appointment, puts them back as they were for 30 days.
How does recording a visit work?
Ask everyone in the room first, your doctor too, every time: until you confirm they agreed, the record button stays off. The audio and its transcript stay on your iPhone, and they aren't backed up or synced. With Apple Intelligence, a short visit is summarized on your iPhone; otherwise, with Vitaclaris Plus, Claude can summarize it from the transcript's text (3 questions). The audio is deleted when you save the summary, unless you choose to keep it.
What are blood age and the heart risk estimate?
Estimates from published research, worked out on your iPhone from results you already have. Blood age uses a research formula (PhenoAge) with nine routine blood values and your age, for adults from 20 to 100. The 10-year heart risk estimate uses the PREVENT equations, made for ages 30 to 79: it isn't worked out outside those ages, or when your answers in Your health mean the equations aren't meant for you, such as a past heart attack, stent, bypass or stroke; plaque or calcium seen only on a scan doesn't stop it. They name no condition and aren't medical tests: ask your doctor what they mean for you.
What does the AI on my iPhone write?
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence turned on, Vitaclaris writes a few short texts on the phone: the summary of a short recorded visit, and a sentence that sums up what changed since your last visit or blood draw. They're labelled Written on this iPhone with Apple Intelligence, they're free, and nothing leaves your iPhone for them. Without Vitaclaris Plus, or offline, Apple Intelligence also combines a visit's questions that ask the same thing, on your iPhone. Anything longer, and everything else the AI does, uses Claude with Vitaclaris Plus.
Does any AI see my women's health data?
No. Your cycle, your symptoms and the stage you choose are never sent to any AI, on your iPhone or in the cloud.
AI on every screen
What does Explain do?
With Vitaclaris Plus, tap Explain on a result, a report or a medication, or on a new result in Up next, and Claude puts it in plain words: what it is, your own numbers and how it connects to the rest of your health, then the questions to take to your doctor. Claude draws on public health information from MedlinePlus, RxNorm and the FDA's drug labels. What a result means for you is for your doctor to say, and what Claude writes isn't medical advice.
What else can the AI do?
Free, worked out on your iPhone: How am I doing today? in Nutrition, Assess my sleep for your last four weeks of sleep, what came before your flares, Review my history for prevention and follow-ups, Surgery prep and the GLP-1 companion. Each has an optional step with Claude that uses Vitaclaris Plus.
With Claude: scanning a pill bottle's label to add a medication*1, a brief before each visit and a debrief by voice after it*1, a plan in Longevity*1, answers in Search*1, and Explain for family*1, which rewrites an explanation for someone in your care circle.
What do they cost?
An explanation, an answer in Search, a rewrite for family or a pill bottle's label counts as 1 question; an insight, such as today's meals, your sleep, a visit's brief or a plan, as 2; getting ready for a surgery or procedure as 5. An explanation or insight you've already opened opens again for free, until the information behind it changes.
What do they send?
Only what each one needs, through the Vitaclaris server, which keeps none of it, to Anthropic's Claude: What leaves your device lists each one. No explanation or insight gets your wellbeing check.
Your information
Where is my information kept?
Your records stay on your iPhone or iPad, in Vitaclaris's own storage, and in your device's backups if they're on. If you turn on sync and backup, an end-to-end encrypted copy is also kept on the Vitaclaris server, and only your devices and your recovery key can open it. A doctor link and a shared family profile leave your device only sealed too: we can't read them. When you use an AI feature, what it needs goes through the Vitaclaris server to Anthropic, the company that makes Claude, and our server keeps none of it. Your account keeps your plan, your purchases and how many questions you've used. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what's sent.
How do I move to a new iPhone?
With sync and backup on, sign in with Apple on the new iPhone and choose I use Vitaclaris on another device (see "How do I add an iPad or a new iPhone?" below). Without sync, set up the new iPhone from a backup of the old one (iCloud Backup, or an encrypted backup on your computer), or make a Vitaclaris backup: on the old iPhone, open Settings → Your data → Back up to a file and save it in Files or iCloud Drive; on the new one, install Vitaclaris, tap Restore from a backup and pick the file. Your Vitaclaris Plus plan follows your Apple Account: sign in again in Settings → Account and plan.
How do I back up my information?
Turn on sync and backup (below) for a copy that stays up to date by itself. You can also make a file: open Settings → Your data → Back up to a file. The file has everything Vitaclaris keeps: your records, documents, logs, meals, plans, chats and settings. It isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. To bring it back, tap Restore from a backup and pick the file, then close Vitaclaris and open it again. What was there before is kept for 7 days, and Undo the last restore puts it back. If sync is on, it pauses after a restore until you choose Put this copy on every device or Use the data in my account.
Can I use Vitaclaris on an iPad?
Yes. On an iPad the tabs are at the top, and the button at the top left opens a sidebar. Turn on sync and backup to keep your iPhone and iPad in step.
How do I delete my information?
Delete entries one by one in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it keeps on that device. To delete your account, go to Settings → Account and plan → Delete account. That also deletes your synced copy: from our database at once, and from storage within a few days, usually within hours. Then cancel the subscription in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, since deleting the account doesn't cancel it. The meals, water, and mood and anxiety check-ins Vitaclaris saved to the Health app stay there until you delete them.
Sync and backup
How do I turn on sync and backup?
Open Settings → Your devices → Turn on sync and backup. It's off until you turn it on. It needs a Vitaclaris account (Sign in with Apple), not Vitaclaris Plus, and it's free, for up to 10 devices and 5 GB per account. Past 5 GB, new photos and documents wait on the device, and everything else keeps syncing. Vitaclaris syncs when you open it, a few seconds after each change and when you leave it, and now and then in the background when iOS allows it (your device's Settings → General → Background App Refresh). Sync now syncs right away.
What syncs?
Everything Vitaclaris keeps: your records, logs, meals and their photos, documents, plans, chats and the settings that sync. Your sign-in and each device's own settings, such as reminders, stay on that device. What's in the Health app isn't copied: each device reads it itself. The health records Vitaclaris brings in are part of the copy, sealed like the rest.
Can Vitaclaris read my synced data?
No. Your data is sealed on your device, with keys made on your devices and kept in each one's Keychain, before anything is sent. Our server keeps the sealed copy and sees only its sizes, when it changed and how many devices you have: never what's in it, what kind of records they are, or file names or device names. Nobody can open the copy without one of your devices or your recovery key, us included.
What is the recovery key?
A 28-character key shown when you turn on sync. Copy it, save it or print it, and keep it somewhere safe: it opens your copy if you lose all your devices. You can also keep it in iCloud Keychain, which Apple encrypts end to end, so your devices on the same Apple Account find it without typing. Only the key goes to iCloud, never your health information.
How do I add an iPad or a new iPhone?
On the new device, sign in with Apple (Settings → Account and plan), then go to Settings → Your devices → I use Vitaclaris on another device. Then one of these:
- If your recovery key is in iCloud Keychain, it's found: tap Add this iPhone (or iPad).
- Tap Scan the code on your other device and scan the one your other device shows in Settings → Your devices → Add a device. The code lasts 10 minutes, and the other device confirms.
- Tap Type the recovery key.
If the new device already has data of its own, Vitaclaris asks first. Use the data in my account backs up that data, then replaces it with your account's.
How do I remove a device?
In Settings → Your devices, swipe left on the device (or touch and hold it) and tap Remove. It's signed out and gets nothing new, and your other devices change their key. What was already on it stays there, behind its passcode; Find My can erase it.
I lost my recovery key
If you still have one of your devices, open Settings → Your devices → Make a new recovery key. The old key stops opening anything new.
I lost all my devices
On a new device, sign in with Apple and choose I use Vitaclaris on another device. If your key was in iCloud Keychain, it's found by itself; otherwise, type your recovery key. Without either, nobody can open the copy, us included. Lost every device and the key? Start over erases the copy and starts a new one from the new device; it asks you to sign in with Apple again first.
How do I turn sync off, or delete my copy?
In Settings → Your devices:
- Turn off on this iPhone stops sync on that device only, and it keeps its data.
- Delete the copy on the Vitaclaris server stops sync on every device (each keeps its own data) and deletes the copy, its history and its photos.
How long does the copy keep old versions?
Earlier versions and deleted items stay in the copy for about 30 to 45 days while your devices sync, then they're deleted.
